Take Me Along is a musical based on the Eugene O'Neill play Ah, Wilderness, with music and lyrics by Bob Merrill and book by Joseph Stein and Robert Russell. It was directed by Peter Glenville and produced by David Merrick. It opened on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre on October 22, 1959 and closed on December 17, 1960 after 448 performances.
A 1985 revival closed after seven previews and one performance.

Other appearances
The uptempo, bouncy score of Volunteer Firemen's Picnic has been borrowed twice by the writers of Family Guy, firstly for the episode PTV as The Freakin' FCC. As a result, the episode was named #2 on The Paley Center for Media's list of TV's Funniest Moments and was nominated for an Emmy Award.
The song then returned for a special appearance at the Emmy Awards as If You Want It You Can Find It On TV, taking potshots at Desperate Housewives, Two and a Half Men and The Sopranos amongst others.
