Tamano (玉野市 Tamano-shi?) is a city located in the southern Okayama, Japan.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 68,169 and the density of 658.26 persons per km². The total area is 103.56 km².

The city was officially founded on August 3, 1940.

JR Uno Line connect it to Okayama. Before Great Seto Bridge was opened, there was train ferry between Uno Port in Tamano and Takamatsu on Shikoku and Tamano was the major entrance to Shikoku. Still today there are many ferry line between Uno port and Takamatsu, Shodoshima and Naoshima Islands.

Its major industry was ship construction and metal fining. Other industry is fishing.
