Tamarix ramosissima, commonly known as saltcedar, is a deciduous arching shrub with reddish stems and feathery, pale green foliage. This shrub, which can have a height of 8 m and spread of 5 m is fully hardy and well suited for planting in coastal locations for use as screening, a windbreak, informal hedging, or specimen shrub. Tamarix ramosissima produces upright racemes of small pink, five-petaled flowers from late summer to early autumn which cover the new wood of the plant. It is tolerant of many soil types but prefers a well drained, light or sandy soil in full sun.
