Situated on a 210-acre estate in the Berkshire Mountains in Western Massachusetts, the Tanglewood Music Festival is the oldest music festival in the United States. A harbinger of summer, the festival consists of a series of concerts performed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra at their summer home, and is attended by over 300,000 people each year. In addition to the concerts offered by the orchestra, the Tanglewood Festival includes jazz and pop performances, musical theater, Boston Pops concerts, and a festival of contemporary music.
