Tartu Airport

Tartu Airport (IATA: TAY, ICAO: EETU) is 8 kilometres (5 miles) south of the city centre of Tartu in Estonia, near the Tartu-Võru highway. It is also called Ülenurme Airport due to its proximity to the town of Ülenurme.

There are no regular flights at present. The majority of flights are training flights by students of Tartu Aviation College.

History

The airport was opened in 1946. A new terminal building was built in 1981, and the runway and taxiway were also upgraded then. Since 2005 the airport has been owned by Tallinn Airport Ltd.

There are plans to lengthen the runway to 2000 meters.

1268 passengers travelled via Tartu Airport in 2004.
