Teachers College (or Teachers' College or Teacher's College) refers to a normal school, ie. a college intended for teacher education. The term was most common in the 1920s and 1930s; most of these academic institutions have since been renamed.

Historical names

A weathered historic marker commemorating Florence State Teachers College, now the University of North Alabama, the oldest state-supported teachers college south of the Ohio River.  Many U.S. teachers colleges, which often began as two-year normal schools, eventually developed into comprehensive state universities like the University of North Alabama.
