Site
The Stockton-on-Tees section is within the town of Thornaby-on-Tees and is all located within the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire. The driving force behind its growth was originally the Teesside Development Corporation[2] in the late 1980s when the two current unitary authorities were part of the county of Cleveland. The park's location is often incorrectly listed as Stockton-on-Tees (for the leisure park), Teesside, Cleveland or Middlesbrough (for the retail park).
It is built on the former site of Stockton Racecourse, hence many of the park's roads being named after famous racecourses such as Aintree and Goodwood. It is home to a number of retail chains and has a Morrisons supermarket. Its catchment area covers much of the Tees Valley.
Transport
Teesside Park is served by a half-hourly bus service from Stockton High Street, Service 66, run by A1 Coaches. A timetable can be found here. From 14th November 2009, a new service to Middlesbrough (Tees Valley Stagecarriage - number 8) will start serving the park every half an hour throughout the day.
It is also a short walk from the Stagecoach services 36, 37, and 38.
It was served by the hourly Arriva service X99 between Middlesbrough and Darlington, but the service was replaced by the X14 and subsequently the X66 meaning that these services no longer serve Teesside Park. It was also served by Stagecoach service 52 which travelled into the leisure park, both outside Morrisons and behind Toys R Us, this service was also removed.
