Teispes (Old Persian: 𐎨𐎡𐏁𐎱𐎡𐏁[1] Cišpiš[2]; Greek Τεΐσπης; died 640 BC[citation needed]) was the son of Achaemenes and an ancestor of the Kings of Persia. He captured the Elamite city of Anshan and called himself "King of the City of Anshan", a first step that would lead to the rise of the Persian Empire. He was succeeded by his second son, Cyrus I.
