TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. is a Maryland corporation, which was founded in 1987. The Company develops and applies wireless data communications technology, with emphasis on text messaging, location-based services including enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) for wireless carriers and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service providers, and secure satellite-based communication solutions for government customers. The Company’s Government Segment designs, assembles, sells and maintains data network communication systems, including its SwiftLink(r) deployable communication systems. It also owns and operates secure satellite teleport facilities, resell access to satellite airtime (known as space segment), and provides communication systems integration, information technology services, and software systems and services to the U.S. Department of Defense and other government customers. The Company currently has more than 65 patents, mainly for wireless messaging and location technology, and more than 210 patent applications pending.
