R&B/soul singer (in the '60s) Jimmy McCracklin has the blues on this collection of mostly self-compositions. Some tunes have an old rural feel to them, while others literally jump from the speakers and invite you to get up and go crazy. Craftiest on crawlers, McCracklin has included a fair number of them here, including the thought-provoking "Would Man Be Satisfied" and "Double Dealin' on Me." "I Just Got to Know," with its rolling piano, is a buzz; while the gospel-flavored "My Answer" and "Bad Situation" are fortified by accompanying female vocals that take you to church. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
