tempolauf

A type of training for runners, cyclists, and swimmers which emphasizes high-intensity effort equalling or approaching that required in a race. The aim is to accustom the athlete to the tempo or pace of the race. Tempolauf may take the form of a single time trial or a small number of repetitions with sufficient rest between each to allow recovery to be almost complete.

 
 

A form of training that emphasizes high intensity effort equalling or approaching that required in competition. Tempolauf may take the form of continuous or intermittent work, as in a time trial, or brief repetitions at the competitive distance with adequate intervening rest periods. The aim of such training is to accustom the athlete to the tempo or pace of competition.
