Biography

Playing alternative pop/rock (with some emo tendencies), Ten Second Epic hail from the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Like many acts, the guys were simply high-school friends who began playing music together in the early 2000s and eventually chose to go at the whole band thing full-time. Comprised of vocalist Andrew Usenik, guitarists Craig Spelliscy and Daniel Carriere, drummer Patrick Birtles, and bassist Sandy MacKinnon, Ten Second Epic self-released the EP One More for the Road in 2004. Their local support grew steadily and the guys gained the support of an area radio station, which certainly helped spread their name. Gigs also helped, and they made appearances on the 2004 and 2005 Warped Tour, in addition to crossing Canada a handful of times on their own. Ten Second Epic garnered the attention of Black Box Recordings (Universal Music), inking a deal with the imprint and releasing the album Count Yourself In in the fall of 2006; the record was produced by GGGarth Richardson (Rise Against, Red Hot Chili Peppers), and one of the band's songs was later nominated for Best Independent Video at the 2007 MuchMusic Video Awards. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide

History

One More for the Road was the first disc released by the band in 2004, which sold nearly 4,000 units across Canada. After the release of their independent disc, the band played every single date of the Canadian leg of the Warped Tour, selling out large-capacity venues and being voted the "Best Band in Edmonton" by SEE Magazine.

Following the moderate success of One More for the Road, Ten Second Epic wasted little time and soon found themselves recording at Canadian super producer Garth Richardson's Farm Studios in Gibsons, British Columbia.

The result of Richardson’s collaboration with the band was Ten Second Epic’s most successful album to date, Count Yourself In, released on October 10, 2006.

Music videos for "Suck It Up, Princess", "Count Yourself In", "Old Habits Die Hard" and "Avenue Days" received notable airplay on MuchMusic. Additionally, the respective singles received notable airplay on college and mainstream radio stations across Canada.

"Count Yourself In" was nominated for Rock Song of the Year by Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) for the 11th Annual Canadian Radio Music Awards and the same song was also nominated for a MuchMusic Video Award and ended up on the MuchMusic compilation disc PunchMuch.

The third single, "Old Habits Die Hard", received great praise as well and ended up on the newest installment of the MuchMusic Big Shiny Tunes' series.

On October 16, 2008, at Mavericks Bar in Ottawa, Ontario Canada, Ten Second Epic played their first show in six years without their singer Andrew due to sickness (he came down with a throat infection and a case of tonsillitis at the same time). They decided it was too late to cancel the show so they invited fans up on the stage to sing along with them.

Ten Second Epic toured with Theory of a Deadman and Rev Theory in January 2009.

Their third album, Hometown, was released January 27, 2009. The first single off Hometown is "Life Times". The album debuted at #16 on the Canadian Album Chart. The video for "Life Times" is a story about the band taking care of an infant left outside their garage one day, naming him Pyro and raising him.

During the album release party for Hometown on February 22, 2009 at the Starlite Room in Edmonton, the band announced the show was to be recorded and released as a live DVD, although the release date is not known.

The official Ten Second Epic Street Team website was launched on November 30, 2008. It can be visited at tse-streetteam.piczo.com

In March 2009, the band announced they would be touring Canada with The New Cities and The Februarys in April and May 2009[3].

In Fall 2009, They toured across Canada with Silverstein, A Day To Remember, I Am Committing A Sin and Kingdoms.
