This single-disc release collects work from two giants of the blues, Bukka White and Sleepy John Estes. Although the track listing is rather odd, with some obvious choices from both artists being left out, "Tennessee Blues" is a terrific listen, and a great collection for any newcomer to these two artists. The balance is weighed slightly in the favor of Estes, and his seminal "Milk Cow Blues" and "Down South Blues" would be highlights of any blues compilation. The two artists work well together -- this is no great juxtaposition, nor was it meant to me -- they have a similar delivery, and the quality of material from both White and Estes is consistently high. ~ Thomas Ward, All Music Guide
