Tethra

Chief of the semi-divine Fomorians, nephew of Forgall Manach, who comes to be seen as a king of the Otherworld. Seen as a Fomorian, Tethra wields the sword Orna savagely but is none the less killed at the Second Battle of Mag Tuired [Cath Maige Tuired]. Before the writing of the Mythological Cycle, wherein this literary characterization was created, Tethra was evidently a divinity, probably of the sea. In later texts Tethra re-emerges as deity, now of the happy Otherworld, sometimes as the consort of Badb in place of Néit.
