If you need help in Texas and you're a doctor, you could turn to the Texas Medical Association (TMA). The medical society, which is the largest in the nation, has grown from 35 physicians in 1853 to more than 43,000 doctors and medical students. Members are eligible to receive benefits, such as financial and investment planning, loans, and subscription services. The TMA also publishes articles, newsletters, and a magazine about hot topics in the medical field. Its political arm, the Texas Medical Association Political Action Committee (TEXPAC), acts as an advocate for its members' interests on issues that arise in the state and national legislature.
