Text, 1. the generally accepted reference to an authentic text of a work of literature, letter, document, etc. It is a basic task of critical editions to establish the authenticity of texts.

2. More frequently in the plural form of Texte, the word has been adopted by exponents of concrete and visual poetry (see Konkrete Poesie), extending its normal connotation to embrace an abstract approach to reading.
