But just as they meet Thumbelina is taken prisoner by the comically sinister Mole King (Peter Gallagher), who wants to make her his bride. ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide

Review

It's not Shrek, but Disney's direct-to-video animated musical Adventures of Tom Thumb and Thumbelina provides pleasant enough entertainment to amuse the preschooler and elementary crowd. There are a few thrills and chills, but nothing to diminish a very G rating. The traditional animation isn't as lush as other Disney offerings, but it moves along at a brisk clip, with six original songs and a superb all-star voice cast that includes Jennifer Love Hewitt, Elijah Wood, Peter Gallagher, Robert Guillaume, Bebe Neuwirth, and Jon Stewart, not that it matters to the target audience. Gallagher's song "Welcome to My Hole" is a comic highlight. Besides the names and sizes of the lead characters, this original film has nothing to do with the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Anderson fables. ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide
