the Be Sharps

In the Simpsons, The Be Sharps were a fictional barbershop quartet that consisted of Homer Simpson, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon (changed his name to Apu du Beaumarchais ordered by Nigel, the agent for the group), Principal Skinner and Chief Wiggum until Wiggum was sacked from the group after Nigel described him as "too Village People". Barney Gumble took over the void left by Wiggum.

History

In 1985, Homer, Apu, Skinner and Wiggum sang every afternoon at Moe's. They later sang at the retirement home and prison. After a performance at Moe's, the group was discovered by Nigel, who would later become their agent. After Nigel called Chief Wiggum "too Village People", Homer pulled him out of the group. Auditions later began for Wiggum's replacement, but Wiggum tried to get back into the group by disgusing himself as Doctor Dolittle. Barney Gumble was then found as the replacement after finding him on the men's room floor at Moe's singing beautifully. The group was called the Be Sharps although Nigel requested Hamsone Homer Simpson plus 3. The Be Sharps needed a hit and they got one via "Baby on Board", which catapulted them to number one. They then toured the world and sang at the Statue of Liberty Centennial. The Be Sharps went on a downward sprial a couple of months later, after the group's second album "Bigger Than Jesus" failed, and Barney was going out with a Japanese girl like Yoko Ono. She and Barney tried to get the Be Sharps back on track, but they crumbled and when they were declared a "Not" in a Hot or Not list, the group broke up. They sang on the rooftop of Moe's a few years later, and again made their separate ways afterwards, this time for good.
