Review

That is, the best of La Lupe when she was recording for Tico during the late '60s and early '70s. So her fiery rendition of "Fever" is nowhere to be found, though the inclusions are just as strongly felt. With arrangements from Tito Puente, Hector de Leon, and Marty Sheller, La Lupe belts her way through songs like "La Tirana" and "Como Acostumbro" (the original version of "My Way"), with '70s arrangements that angled for the mainstream and sound dated. Still, there's a lot for lovers of salsa as well as kitsch, like her signature song "Puro Teatro" and "Se Acabo" -- basically, Charo with much more chops, though less command of English. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
