The Borrowers is a 1992 British television movie based on the novel of the same name by Mary Norton. The film starred Ian Holm, Penelope Wilton and Rebecca Callard, and was directed by John Henderson. A sequel was created titled The Return of the Borrowers.[1] The film was named on the BFI's list of "100 Greatest British Television Programmes".[2]

Plot

The story centers around a family of "Borrowers," small people who live in the houses of regular people. They live by borrowing all they need from inside the house. The main character is young Borrower girl named Arriety, and her parents Pod and Homily. They must leave their small home, as they have been discovered by humans. The family befriends a human boy name George, and a fellow Borrower named Spiller. They run for freedom and a new place to live. Later, in the film/film's, they stumble across a model village and decide to live there. The model villiage used was Wimborne Minister World Famous Model Villiage.
