The Braxtons were a 1990s R&B group, signed to Atlantic Records. The Braxtons originally started out in 1989. They first signed as a fivesome to Arista Records which consisted of Toni Braxton and her four sisters, Tamar, Trina, Towanda and Traci.

Career

In 1990, they released their first single, "Good Life". It would be their only single as a fivesome. "Good Life" was not a hit and The Braxtons were dropped from Arista Records, but Toni Braxton's lead vocals caught the attention of Antonio "L.A." Reid and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds who were in the process of forming LaFace Records and Toni signed as a solo artist. The Braxtons broke up. In 1996, three out of the four remaining Braxtons, Trina, Tamar and Towanda reunited and released their album So Many Ways, including a cover of Diana Ross's hit "The Boss". The fourth remaining Braxton sister, Traci was not allowed to sign with the group due to her pregnancy at the time. The Braxtons officially disbanded for good after So Many Ways when Tamar Braxton also went solo.

Trina appeared in the 2004 Tyler Perry play Meet the Browns as Tracy Stevens. She was also part of the play called "Rise" written by Salt from Salt-n-Pepa and Christopher-Play from the rap group Kid n Play. Trina Braxton also appeared in the "The Walk" with Eva Pigford and Vanessa Bell. Additionally, she co-starred in two independent films including "Jail Party" and was host for the unbroadcasted Urban Idol for UPN. Towanda appeared in season 2 of the reality show, Starting Over.
