The Corn Sisters are an alternative female band with the contributing talents of singer and drummer Neko Case, alongside Canadian guitar player Carolyn Mark. With both women born and raised devoted to music, the duo is known for their country infused flare while giving their songs a twist of subtle rock. The pair devoted their time to singing in coffee shops and small venues, which is how their popularity rose in the year 1998. The group was signed to the recording company Mint Records in the year 2000 and followed by releasing their first album called “The Other Woman” in November 24th of the same year. The Corn Sisters main song on the album was “Corn on the Cob” and was viewed as their trademark song. Their first album was recorded live in a small Seattle coffee shop called “Hattie’s Hat” and Tower Records shows they had an all time sales rank of 51041 in music, 16243 in rock and pop and their biggest success of 143 sales ranking in alternative country. Within two years, The Corn Sisters successfully went on to being featured in two other albums. The second album was released August 28, 2000 and was called “Team Mint Volume 2!” while the third and final creation was the album called “A Tribute to Robert Altman's Nashville” and was released February 5, 2002. Although The Corn Sisters were only featured in two songs off the “Team Mint Volume 2!” album, it was still a success and a chance for the duo to get public attention.
Although The Corn Sisters success may have kept the group together for longer than it otherwise would have, the common idea was to produce success on an individual level rather than that of a duet. Their solo careers rose in popularity due to their first album “The Other Women” but declined after their third album. The year 2002 was reported as being the last workings of Neko Case and Carolyn Mark as The Corn Sisters.
