Because of the tremendous success of The First Family, a follow up script was rushed and recorded within six months of the original record. With most of the cast returning, Meader as JFK, Naomi Brossart as Jackie, and Norma Macmillan as Caroline Kennedy, and the addition of Stanley Myron Handelman as Vice President Lyndon Johnson, this record was under the impossible pressure to match the success of its predecessor. Sadly, the caption "Produced and Adapted From Real Life for the Last Time" became prophetic, as John F. Kennedy was assassinated on Nov. 22, 1963 -- not long after its release -- and Vaughn Meader's close identification with his Kennedy impressions caused his career to nose-dive.
