Biography

Originally formed in suburban Ottawa in 1999, Canadian rockers the Fully Down spent their early years together mostly honing their musical skills at practice sessions instead of playing the usual plethora of shows around town. As they saw the smoke clear after some lineup changes in 2003, the bandmembers found themselves left with three guitarists in the mix. Instead of kicking someone out, the Fully Down embraced the extra six-strings to give their punk-rooted music an even fuller sound. With influences running from Iron Maiden to Strung Out to the Police, the group was comprised of vocalist Gab Bouchard, drummer Dicky Latour, bassist Alex Newman, and guitarists George Hadji, Kris Parks, and Dan Hay. Having then played a handful of shows, the sextet debuted in June 2004 on local indie Pop Culture with No Fate...But What We Make for Ourselves. The album garnered favorable reviews, and they hit the road hard, including three weeks spent on the 2004 Warped Tour. The Fully Down signed to Fearless Records in August 2005; their label debut, Don't Get Lost in a Movement, appeared that November. Touring continued before the band headed out the following spring with Boy Sets Fire and Versus the Mirror; summer 2006 was spent back on the annual Warped Tour. Bouchard later left the band, and the Fully Down spent early 2007 looking for his replacement. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide

The Fully Down was a Canadian rock band that was formed in suburban Ottawa in 1999, with the current lineup coming together in 2003. The sextet debuted in June 2004 on Orchard Records with No Fate...But What We Make for Ourselves. The album garnered favorable reviews, and they went on the three week Warped Tour in 2004 to support it. Their stint on Warped Tour gave them their first taste of U.S. exposure, which accelerated their popularity in the North American market.

The Fully Down signed to Fearless Records in August 2005. Their label debut, Don’t Get Lost In A Movement, appeared that November. The following spring, the band headed out on the Fear and Loathing Tour with Protest The Hero, A Wilhelm Scream, Bayside and The Spill Canvas. The tour ended halfway through April, and they began touring with Boy Sets Fire and Versus the Mirror until the end of May. The summer of 2006 was spent back on the annual Warped Tour.

In late 2006, the band appeared on the Radio Rebellion Tour with acts Norma Jean, Between the Buried and Me, and Fear Before the March of Flames. They also played a round of Japan dates with Bodyjar, Bigwig and Fact.

As of December 2006, vocalist Gab Bouchard announced that he was leaving the band. He played his last show on December 27, at The Salt Lounge in London, Ontario.

After auditioning singers via their MySpace, The Fully Down announced that they decided on a new vocalist: Justin Camarena, of Detroit, MI. Camarena was a founding member of a local Detroit band named Tough Call, which had a loyal following from their inception in 2003 until their disbanding following Justin's departure to join The Fully Down.

On July 30, 2008 the band posted a blog entry on their Myspace page announcing that they were breaking up, with their final show occurring at Zaphod Beeblebrox in Ottawa on August 23, 2008. Since then, a few of the band members have started other projects. Dan Hay (guitar) joined Ottawa band Amos the Transparent, and Alex Newman (bass) moved to London, Ontario to start his new band, the Bad Ideas.
