Review

This compilation should be available everywhere, but unfortunately it's available hardly anywhere. Issued in Japan in 2000, The Godfather of House Music: Trax Classics collects a dozen productions from Frankie Knuckles, the only being who can truly lay claim to the title of the disc. These selections come from his time on Trax and center on his monumental work with Jamie Principle ("Your Love," "Waiting on My Angel," "Baby Wants to Ride," "It's a Cold World,""Bad Boy"), while offering a smattering of other Trax gems like "Children of the Night," "Boom Boom," and "Move Your Body." If you should ever see a copy, grab it; solid anthologies of early Chicago house are hard to come by. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
