Plot

In this silent tale of deception and redemption, a cocky youth returns to his hometown filled with thrilling, totally fictional tales of his daring heroics during the war. He certainly shows up his stodgy brother. A Belgian lass is charmed by the courageous fellow and they make love. A little time passes and his true character emerges. Not only does he nearly seduce his brother's wife, he also robs the church coffer of the funds his brother was assigned to protect. The sly youth is hastily preparing his departure when he sees that the town school is engulfed in flames. Suddenly the hero inside him bursts out, and while saving the imperiled children, he is horribly burned. Later, his good brother offers to participate in a skin graft. Grateful and humbled, the young brother returns the stolen money. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
