Roy Book Binder and his Hillbilly Blues Cats band expertly convey the urgency of vintage blues by performing them with a brash rockabilly attitude. They cover classic songs in a manner that's neither reverential nor disrespectful, putting their own spin on such numbers as Blind Willie McTell's "Statesboro Blues" or Happy Traum's "Mississippi John." Book Binder's vocals are joyous, exuberant and sometimes comical, while his trio provides stomping backgrounds and harmonies. Although Book Binder and the band can't improve upon the originals, they do nothing to detract from an appreciation of them. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
