In an expanded version of a 1953 Honeymooners sketch, Ralph is forced to sleep on a cot in the kitchen when Alice's Aunt Ethel (Ethel Owen) comes to visit. When it appears that Ethel will never leave, Ralph and his pal Ed Norton conspire to marry the old lady off to local butcher Freddie Zimmerman. Going to great lengths to bring Ethel and Freddie together, Ralph succeeds beyond his wildest dreams -- but as always, there's a catch. Telecast June 5, 1954, as a component of The Jackie Gleason Show, the 42-minute "Good Buy Aunt Ethel" was restaged on October 21, 1967, with songs and in color, as an episode of Gleason's Miami-based variety series. The later version (currently unavailable on video) featured Doro Merande as Aunt Ethel and David Burns as the butcher, rechristened Krausmeyer. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
