The Jungles is an area located in the Northern part of Baldwin Village in South Los Angeles and is bordered by the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza (Crenshaw) on the East and La Brea on the West. This area mainly consists of apartment complexes and used to be inhabited by a Jewish community and college students attending UCLA and USC in the 60's and 70's. It has since been occupied by poor and working class families of African American and Hispanic descent. Also home to Chicago based gang, Black P. Stones (BPS).
The Oscar winning Film Training Day starring Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke featured the Jungles (where Eva Mendes lives).
