The K-Tel Presents Greatest Male R&B Groups: The 70's

  • Release Date: 1998
  • Genre: Rhythm & Blues
  • Label: K-Tel

Review

Far more pleasing than the 1960s' edition in this series, this compilation begins with Chairmen of the Board's bombastic "Pay to the Piper," and ends with the Tymes' melodic "It's Cool." In between, you'll find creamy, soulful '70s classics like the Persuaders' "Thin Line Between Love and Hate" and the Moments' enduring "Love on a Two-Way Street." Also included is Curtis Mayfield & the Impressions' "Finally Got Myself Together", and many fond memories from New York City, the Main Ingredient, the Dells, the Four Tops, and Blue Magic. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
