Irish Literature Companion:

The Loves of Cass McGuire

Loves of Cass McGuire, The, a play by Brian Friel first presented in New York in 1966. The title-character returns from New York where she has worked as a waitress for many years. Her brashness and drinking habits offend and she is put into a rest-home. Cass directly addresses the audience, which serves as her link with reality.
