Judging by the credits of the Thanhouser output in 1916, one could jump to the conclusion that Lloyd Lonergan was the studio's only screenwriter. Hot on the heels of Lonergan's New York-based The Traffic Cop came the five-reel feature The Net, filmed on location in Florida. Bert Delaney plays a muscular young fisherman who rescues two girls (Marian Swayne and Ethel Jewett) from drowning. He soon finds himself engaged to both girls, one of whom is a big-city thief. The "bad" girl really goes to town when Delaney inherits a fortune, but it is the "good" girl -- who happens to be his childhood sweetheart -- who wins out in the end. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
