The News of Cumberland County, formerly known as the Bridgeton News, is a daily regional newspaper in Cumberland County, New Jersey, United States. Its main competitors are The Philadelphia Inquirer across the Delaware River in Pennsylvania and the Courier-Post in South Jersey. It is a sister newspaper to both the Gloucester County Times and Today's Sunbeam (in Salem County), as all were owned by Advance Publications.
Originally founded in 1879 as the Bridgeton Evening News and then known as the Bridgeton News, it concentrated most of its news on the city of Bridgeton itself. However, it also produced a zoned edition for the neighboring city of Millville. Situated in the southwestern portion of the state, The News of Cumberland County has easy access to both Philadelphia and the Jersey shore communities, which include Ocean City, Atlantic City, and Wildwood, among others.[2]
On November 3, 2008, Bridgeton effectively ceased having its own newspaper when the Bridgeton News was printed for the first time as the consolidated regional paper, The News of Cumberland County.
