Biography

Think the Runaways meeting AC/DC in a dingy Chicago garage and you're close to the totally rock sound that emanates from the Paperbacks. Formed in 2000 by singer Laura L. Hotshot, the Paperbacks made their debut supporting punk legends the Dictators at Chicago's Empty Bottle. They first landed on CD with an appearance on "the perfect gift for rock & roll scumbags" -- Flying Bomb's Surprise Package: The Collector's Edition CD, released in 2003. A year later they released their debut EP on Enabler. The self-titled CD had its release delayed by two weeks as Hotshot looked for a band photo "that speaks to me" and "doesn't make me look so drunk." ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide
