The People Speak is a American Documentary film directed by Tony Sacco[1] and scheduled for release in 2009. The documentary is inspired by Howard Zinn's book A People’s History of the United States and from another he co-edited with Anthony Arnove, Voices of a People’s History.

Performers
The film brings together actors Josh Brolin, Marisa Tomei, Danny Glover, Jasmine Guy, Viggo Mortensen, Kerry Washington, Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon, Sandra Oh, Sean Penn, Jasmine Guy, Rosario Dawson, and Don Cheadle, and contains musical performances by Bob Dylan, John Legend, Jackson Browne, Eddie Vedder, Randy Newman, Chris Robinson and Rich Robinson, and Bruce Springsteen to re-create the emotional impact of major moments in U.S. history. These readings, including several by the poet Martin Espada, are woven together with historical footage, music and narrations.
Production
The film was shot on location in Boston, in the Cutler Majestic Theatre, and Malibu.
Scenes from the film were screened at the Democratic National Convention in August 2008 and at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2008.[1] The World Premiere of the full theatrical version is scheduled to screen April 16, 2009 at the Atlanta Film Festival, which will be its only scheduled screening before broadcast. [2]
