The Pillar of Cloud

Pillar of Cloud, The (1948), a novel by Francis Stuart based on his wartime experiences. In the bleak ruins of Marheim, Germany, just after the war, the Irish poet Dominic Malone finds companionship with the sisters Halka and Lisette. Forced by necessity into prostitution, Halka has survived imprisonment in a concentration camp and later an asylum.
