Biography

Known to play at rallies, squats, art galleries, and bookstores, San Francisco's politically charged riot grrrl trio the Quails are drummer Julianna Bright (ex-Electrolettes), guitarist Jen Smith (who put together a traveling punk variety show), and bassist Seth Lorinczi (ex-Circus Lupus). Sharing vocals and songwriting, the Quails formed in 1999 and released their first album, We Are the Quails, on Inconvenient Records (run by Erase Errata's Sara Jaffe). After some time off due to injuries, the Quails released their second album, Atmosphere, in 2002. Following separate tours with Sleater-Kinney and the Aislers Set, they released their third record, The Song Is Love, on Mr. Lady. ~ Kenyon Hopkin, All Music Guide
