Rivals, The (1829), a short novel by Gerald Griffin, published in tandem with Tracy's Ambition. The melodramatic plot concerns Esther Wilderming, a Methodist beauty loved by two suitors, one a romantic rebel named Francis Riordan, the other a Justice of the Peace, Richard Lacy.
