Premise

Alex Mack is an ordinary teenage girl, living with her parents and older sister in the corporate town of Paradise Valley. One day, while walking from school, Alex is nearly hit by a truck from the chemical plant. The truck swerves to avoid her and crashes into a fire hydrant. Alex is then drenched with the chemical GC-161 and flees the scene. It's not long after when Alex realizes the chemical has done something to her. She now has the power of telekinesis, can shoot electricity through her fingertips, and morph into a silver puddle. She confides only in her sister Annie and her best friend Ray about her powers and must keep them a secret from everyone else, including her parents because the head of the plant, Danielle Atron, wants to find her and do experiments on her.

Main characters

  • Alexandra "Alex" Mack (Larisa Oleynik) – The main character of the show, Alex simply wants to live her life like any other teenager. Having gained superpowers (to move objects telekinetically, shoot electric zaps through her fingertips, morph into a puddle of liquid, and glow when she gets nervous) during an accidental chemical spill of GC-161 on her first day of junior high, an incident which puts her life in danger when the head of the chemical plant, Danielle Atron tries to track the "GC-161 kid" to conduct a series of experiments on her. In the series finale, she is kidnapped by the plant. It is then she reveals the truth to her parents after they are brought to the plant. Danielle attempts to kill them by blowing up the plant, but she is arrested and Alex and her parents end up escaping, thanks to Ray's help. She then realizes that Dave, the driver who ended up causing the spill actually knew all along that she was the one Danielle was looking for and never revealed her identity because he knew Alex wouldn't want him to. She thanks him by hugging him. Later on, Alex is given a choice: take the antidote her father made for her and be rid of her powers for good or don't. It is unknown which one she chose.
  • Raymond "Ray" Alvarado (Darris Love) – Alex's closest friend. Ray is someone that Alex can trust with any sort of secret, even the knowledge of her powers. Although he can be a bit troublesome at times, Ray means well, and is willing to help Alex in any way he can.
  • Anne "Annie" Mack (Meredith Bishop) – Alex's older sister, and a scientific genius in her own right. Her dream is to become a scientist like her father. She is aware of Alex's powers, and often does tests on Alex to make sure they are under control to which Alex complains about, but stops when Annie reminds her that what she does is nothing compared to what Danielle would do to her at the plant.
  • George Mack (Michael Blakley) and Barbara Mack (Dorian Lopinto) – Alex's parents, who are not aware of their younger daughter's secret. Out of fear for her parents turning her in to the Plant (which George, works for), or worse, being tortured into surrendering to Danielle Atron, Alex has decided to keep her parents in the dark about her powers. However, they find out the truth after they, along with Alex, are kidnapped by the plant. Alex's dad ends up making an antidote for her and gives her the choice on whether or not she takes it.
  • Louis Driscoll (Benjamin Kimball Smith) – First appeared in season 2. Louis' personality can be described as bold. If there is ever a hair-brained idea that needs to be done, you can bet that Louis will be involved somehow. He accidentally learns Alex's secret when he sees her morph. After hearing a voicemail for Ray about her powers, Lars, the new guy Danielle hired to find Alex, grabs him. Thinking he was going to be tortured, Louis blurts out that Alex is the GC-161 kid which leads to the plant capturing her.
  • Dave Watt (John Nielsen) – The dim-witted truck driver who was driving the truck that dumped the GC-161 chemical on Alex. Despite being the only witness to the incident, Dave's inability to remember Alex's face is the only thing that has kept her safe. In the series finale, Alex realizes then that Dave actually knew she was the one Danielle had been looking for, but didn't say anything because he knew what Danielle was planning to do to her and knew Alex wouldn't want her identity revealed.
  • Kelly Phillips (Hilary Salvatore) – First appeared in season 2. Kelly is Alex's school rival and deviously discredits Alex at every given turn, much to Alex's dismay. Although unaware of her powers, Kelly has suspected something unusual about Alex, and has often tried to find out exactly what it is.
  • Robyn Russo (Natanya Ross) – One of Alex's neighborhood friends. Not exactly the most optimistic person, Robyn can somehow see the bad part of any situation.
  • Nicole Wilson (Alexis Fields) – Another of Alex's friends. Nicole can be something of an opposite personality to Robyn, with a take-charge attitude and strong-willed demeanor.
  • Danielle Atron (Louan Gideon) – The corrupt owner/CEO of the Paradise Valley Chemical Plant, and Alex's main nemesis. Danielle is the woman responsible for providing Paradise Valley with much of its income, and the entire town wouldn't hesitate to expose Alex as the accident victim if it meant keeping on her good side. Danielle has plans to utilize GC-161 as a weight-loss aid, and she perceives the unidentified child (Alex) as a threat and orders that she be identified and brought in her experimentation. The plant eventually captures Alex and Danielle is pleased and attempts to kill Alex by blowing up the factory to get rid of all evidence of GC-161. She is arrested before she can escape.
  • Vince Carter (John Marzilli) – Whereas Danielle is the brains of the Plant's control, Vince, Chief of Plant Security, is the muscle. Vince is usually the one who Danielle sends to capture identify and capture Alex, but his plans never seem to work out, mainly due to Alex's quick wit and Dave's lack of it. A former Navy SEAL, Vince has all the skill and gadgetry he needs to do his job, and is relentless in his pursuit of Alex. Even when he eventually gets fired from the Plant, he still continues to try and catch Alex, making him all the more dangerous.
  • Lars Frederickson (Kevin Quigley) – First appeared in season 3. A skilled chemist hailing from the Plant's foreign branch in Vienna. After Vince gets fired, Lars takes over his position as Danielle Atron's closest associate. He is just as eager to profit from the Plant's GC-161 research as Danielle and is notoriously suspicious of almost everybody.
  • Hunter Reeves (Will Estes) – appeared in the show's fourth season, Hunter moves into Paradise Valley with his mother and soon learns of Alex and her powers. His visit, however, has an ulterior motive. Hunter is determined to learn the truth about the murder of his father from years ago and he believes that Danielle Atron may have had a hand in it.
