Game Description
After the release of After Dark and More After Dark, Berkeley Systems released a number of stand-alone theme additions to the series, including Star Trek, Disney and The Simpsons. Using the voices of the characters from the television show, Berkeley made over 15 different modules, including Krusty the Clown, Homer, Itchy and Scratchy, and many, many more. Some of the screen savers are interactive but most run simply to prevent screen burn-in. The Simpsons Screen Saver is further enlivened with sound and music including The Simpsons theme and the theme of the Itchy and Scratchy Show.

Review: Overall
Anyone who enjoys the cartoon show The Simpsons will find plenty to enjoy in The Simpsons Screen Saver. The cartoon characters, including Bart, Homer, Lisa, Marge, Maggie and Grandpa Simpson all make appearances in the screen saver modules included in this collection.Other characters making an appearance include Itchy and Scratchy, from the show Bart and Lisa are usually watching, Krusty the Clown, Mr. Burns and his yes-man Smithers, Apu, the man who runs the Quick-E-Mart, Sideshow Bob and Ned Flanders.
Not all of the characters mentioned are animated. Some appear only in the Drawing module that shows how many of the characters are drawn, starting with simple shapes and adding details before finally showing a finished color picture of the character.
This screensaver uses the After Dark engine, meaning it is compatible with all the other After Dark programs. If another version of After Dark is installed, users need only install the modules themselves. One of the things you will need to remember is the registration number printed on the registration card. Without this number, players cannot install the screensaver on the hard drive.
Also, though the box claims that the screensaver is Power PC compatible, do not be surprised if you get a number of "out of memory" messages when trying to play certain modules. This can be a problem, even when the screen display is set to 256 colors.
One of the best things about this screensaver is the great number of Simpsons' sounds contained in the screensaver. Hearing the Simpsons theme or the theme from the Itchy and Scratchy show, short as it is, will make you smile in the midst of your workday activities.
While there is nothing really objectionable about any of the modules, you might want to take care if you have small children near where you have the computer. The ultra-violent antics of Itchy and Scratchy are not for the very young, however funny they might seem to older kids or adults.
