California didn't have a lock on garage bands -- Ohio had some good ones, most notably Ohio Express. Forget about their big hit "Yummy Yummy Yummy," a bubblegum special; this collection is a step up from that malarkey. The combo upgrades their material considerably, only digressing on "Candy Cane," "Cum-a-La-Be-Stay," and "Bubblegum Music." Surprisingly nice are "Right Time Is the Night Time," with its Motown feel, and "I Could Kiss Marie Goodbye," a knock-off of Lonnie Mack's "Memphis." ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music GuideTracks
