Biography

Fronted by former Alastor member Elizabeth Elkins, whose voice has been compared to Patti Smith and Chrissie Hynde, Atlanta, GA, band the Swear draw from a number of influences, including Hole, Garbage, the Smashing Pumpkins, and Fugazi. The group, comprised of Elkins (vocals, guitar), Jeremy Zamora (guitar), Kevin Williams (bass), and Jerod Snider (drums), made its recording debut in 2005 with Every Trick's a Good One, which was produced by Russ-T Cobb and mastered by Howie Weinberg. Two years later, the group returned to the studio with Matt Goldman to begin work on its follow-up album. Hotel Rooms and Heart Attacks was released in 2008. ~ Katherine Fulton, All Music Guide

The Swear is an Atlanta rock band founded by songwriter/guitarist/vocalist Elizabeth Elkins.

Their debut album Every Trick's A Good One (Jan 2006) had six songs Last Breath, Letters Faded, January, List, Chicago and The Sleep Inside. The album was produced by Russ-T Cobb. The band has won a Grand Prize award in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.[1]

The Swear's songs have appeared on FX's Rescue Me, The WB's Smallville, The WB's Roswell Season One DVD, FOX's Reunion, TNT's Wanted, ABC's "Life As We Know It", The Discovery Channel's Outward Bound, The N's "Beyond the Break" and many MTV programs.[citation needed]

The band's first full length came out in late 2008. Titled "Hotel Rooms and Heart Attacks" it was produced by Ted Niceley, Matt Goldman and Jeff Tomei. It was mixed by Eli Janney. Tracks are Vampire, Shuttered Off Christine, Some Graves Are Stolen, History of Cinema, A Moment in the Glass, Deadfall, The Violence Rings, Always Wasted, Birmingham, One Must Be So Careful, Last Breath, The City That Never, Morning in June. It also has a cover painting by Dennis Campay, like the first EP does.

Elizabeth was born in Fredricksberg, Virginia and lived in a lot of places like Belgium, North Carolina, Virginia and Panama because her dad was an army officier. Kevin is originally from Lancaster, SC. Jeremy was born in New Mexico and Steve is from the New York area. The band first started when original drummer Kent Aberle joined Elizabeth's band Alastor then that band ended so Kent invited Kevin who used to play in a band with him and the nucleus of the Swear was born. Jeremy was well-known in Atlanta and had played in Devil May Care and Derek Lyn Plastic.
