Traveller, The (Britten: Death in Venice). Bass-Baritone. (who also sings Elderly Fop, Old Gondolier, Hotel Manager, Hotel Barber, Leader of the Players, Voice of Dionysus). Aschenbach meets him in the cemetery and it is his suggestion that the novelist should ‘go south’, as a result of which Aschenbach travels to Venice. Created (1973) by John Shirley-Quirk.
