Dictionary of Dance:

The Triumph of Death

Television ballet choreographed by Flindt, with music by Thomas Koppel, sets by Poul Arnt Thomsen, and costumes by Soren Breum. Premiered by Danish television on 23 May 1971 with Flindt, F. Schaufuss, Eliasen, and Vivi Flindt. It is based on Ionesco's Jeu de massacre, and is a strident and deliberately shocking attack on capitalist ideology. In the famous nude scene, the choreographer himself appeared with his body sprayed with pink disinfectant. The piece was first performed on the stage on 19 Feb. 1972 by the Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen.
