Fans who prefer a little bit more material and/or Vandross' earlier era might be more satisfied sticking with the 20-song The Best of Luther Vandross, which only goes up to the late '80s in its coverage. However, The Ultimate Luther Vandross is his best single-disc compilation, with 17 songs from 1981-1994, 13 of which were Top Ten R&B hits.
