Plot
An enterprising undertaker forms an unholy alliance with the owner of a diner in this low-budget exploitation horror film. Macabre humor and terror is combined as the victims of a small town down South are served human flesh at the diner. One of the deceased was named Susie Lamb, and soon the menu advertises leg of lamb as the culinary special of the day. The undertaker takes advantage of the bereaved and charges exorbitant prices for his services before processing their loved ones into lunch meat. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide
Review
Psychotronic film devotees are the only viewers who need to concern themselves with this incredibly weird horror comedy. The jokes are unfunny, the gore is unrealistic, and the actors are pure ham, but The Undertaker and his Pals revels in its own inappropriateness so completely that it's impossible to forget. Undertaker mixes sadly botched zaniness with graphic scenes of violence and cruelty, trading all the while on the queasy subject of cannibalism and the natural unease most people have with funeral parlors and morticians. It's all backed by a swinging rock & roll soundtrack, the jokes are underscored with wacky sound effects, and there's even some genuine open-heart surgery footage thrown in, just to go that extra mile. The Undertaker and his Pals comes off like a Mad Magazine parody of a Herschell Gordon Lewis film (which were pretty tongue-in-cheek to begin with), cheaply constructed and choked with sick humor and painful puns. Highly recommended for those who revel in bad taste. ~ Fred Beldin, All Movie Guide
