The Works of the Late Edgar Allan Poe. The first three volumes of Poe's collected works were rushed into print by his literary executor Rufus Wilmot Griswold. Griswold created the myth of a damned and dissolute Poe in his misleading memoir, included in the collection. A fourth volume would appear in 1856.
