Definitely no relation to the 1957 Alfred Hitchcock film of the same name, the 1909 Essanay one-reeler The Wrong Man is a standard mistaken-identity farce. Pursued by a "masher," a young wife takes refuge in her home. Refusing to take no for an answer, her would-be suitor hides in the woman's living room closet. Terrified, she prevails upon a visiting plumber to protect her from the masher. On cue, the lady's husband enters the house. Assuming that hubby is the obstreperous masher, the plumber beats the poor fellow to a pulp. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
