Arriving on the scene of a double killing -- a New Orleans man has murdered his boss and committed suicide after being "possessed" by a flaming wraith -- Special Agent Reyes (Annabeth Gish) begins experiencing disturbing thoughts. Contacting the now "at liberty" Mulder (David Duchovny), Reyes hopes to solve the mystery surrounding the twin tragedy. In so doing, she believes that she will also locate the person or persons responsible for the death of Luke Doggett (Jake Fritz), the son of Mulder's X-Files successor, John Doggett (Robert Patrick). Will all these paranormal goings-on cause Doggett to follow the lead of the previous skeptical Scully (Gillian Anderson) and become a "true believer" himself? "Empedocles" first aired on April 22, 2001. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
