Plot

In this rather absurd "yellow peril" serial, the American-raised Bain children are sought by an ancient Chinese dynasty who had survived in the Gobi Desert. When Suzanne Vallette (Juanita Hansen) and Jerry Engleson (William Norton Bailey) seek shelter during a storm at the home belonging to the Bains (Marguerite Courtot and Warner Oland), they are mistaken for members of the family. Attempting to recover the Bain children, descendants, it is believed, of Chinese royalty, Suzanne and Jerry survive countless perils before the Chinese villains are finally defeated in the 15th and final chapter, "The Miracle." Positioned to take over the mantle from serial queen Pearl White, the blonde Juanita Hansen left films altogether in 1923 due to a rather public battle with drug dependency. Miss Hansen's fall from grace, however, paved the way for rising serial star Allene Ray. The Yellow Arm was produced by serial specialist George B. Seitz and directed by prolific writer Bertram Millhauser. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, All Movie Guide
